Having grown up among artists, engineers, builders and designers, I guess you could
Say that Architecture runs in my blood. From my early years sanding corners off
cabinets for my parents construction projects, to making trees for my dad's models
when he went to grad school, and the wonderful trips to Europe and Latin America
with my family, I have always been drawn to quality design and its manifestations
in art and architecture. When the time came for me to go to college, I felt that I
needed to branch out and discover something new, so I went to the University of
Florida to Pursue a degree in Business administration. While there I began taking
classes in Italian Renaissance art, and over the course of gaining a minor in Art
History, my love for architecture was reignited. during a third trip to Europe for a
summer semester I knew that once I graduated, I had to go back and get my Masters
in Architecture. After taking a year off to gain more design and project management
experience at my family's Design- build firm, I decided to go to the University of
South Florida to pursue this dream. throughout the course of my masters I have had
the opportunity to intern for an Architecture firm at which I was blessed to learn
and work with revit in a wonderful collaborative environment. I was also honored to
work with one of my highly respected professors, gaining important experience in
research, and publications that has proved to be incredibly beneficial as I focus on
my final semester of thesis. I am now about to graduate in December, and I look
forward to officially starting a life in professional Architecture. I believe that
as emerging architects it is important to keep in mind not only the beauty of
artistic expression, but the importance of architecture in providing shelter with
responsible consideration of both the human and natural environments.
